Plantation Reynsdorp (Bakkie) is a former coffee plantation (founded by Nicolaas Reynsdorp in 1744) . Museum Bakkie has one of the most unique private collections in Suriname with many original books, prints, maps and objects. When you visit Bakkie, developer Bas Spek and Marsha Mormon (descendant / heiress / plantation developer) are ready to welcome you. Bakkie Museum has original pieces from special visitors such as Captain John Gabriel Stedman 1796, draftsman Benoit 1839, researcher Maria Sibylla Merian 1699 etc. They visited Suriname from the end of the 17th century and made books and prints of the area, these publications were made in Europe. Museum Bakkie’s passion is to make these masterpieces about Suriname and the plantation visible to visitors. The Bakkie museum is unique in Suriname because of this top collection supplemented with artifacts from the area such as the buoy, brand and the stories of Marsha’s ancestors and family pieces.
